Milford & Makeney May Day 2019 was a great success… the sun came out, the showers were infrequent, and people were plentiful – this may have been the best turnout of the last decade.
Starting, as usual, at the Holly Bush, the atmosphere was set by Black Pig Morris who came with a strength of tradition, a sense of fun and a blaze of colour.
The Maids of the Mill celebrated the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing as a group of astronauts took small steps for womankind in a gravity-defying dance, and the maypole was unfurled as usual for the enjoyment of revellers young and old.
The procession moved on to the playground, then to Soi Kitchens and finally to the school for the May Fair and the day climaxed with a ceilidh.
As always, funds were raised for Aquabox. Thanks to all who organised the event, took part or simply came to support.
