May Day 2013

Sadly, the weather for May Day 2013 wasn’t as fine as last year, mainly because of one torrential downpour which drenched the parade walking from the Holly Bush to Hopping Hill Meadow, leading to the cancellation of any performances by the river.  However, the rain held off before and after when performances did take place, and the school May Fair was well attended .

Well done to all who not only turned up but also helped out – especially those who created the three well dressings – and thanks, as always, to Milford Brass Band and The Maids of the Mill dancers.

An appeal from webmaster Ashley Franklin whose photos you can see in the gallery below: ‘Due to circumstances beyond my control, I couldn’t turn up to take my photos for the 2014 calendar until 12.45, shortly after which it started to rain!  Although the rain eased off and I managed to take a wide range of pictures, there was no further Maypole dancing.  If you have any photos of the Maypole dancing, please email me.

Below is a gallery of photos of the day.  Click on any one to enlarge.
