It’s a brave person who decides to take over the running of a pub during a pandemic but Zoe Shilton, the manager of the New Inn believes she has done the right thing in breathing fresh life into the former restaurant.
As Zoe points out: ‘The New Inn was a restaurant for many years but the name New Inn tells you it was originally a pub, so it’s great to see it return to being a traditional tavern.’
It will have all the accoutrements of a 21st century pub: a place to drink and converse, with pub grub, snooker table, fruit machine and large flat-screen TV – to largely show sports.
There will be three real ales at all times and the food will be ‘pub classics’ with ‘Tandoori Chef’ evenings from Wednesday to Saturday.
There are plans to have a Happy Hour on Monday or Tuesday, plus a Gin Convention at some point in the future.
Opening hours are 12 noon to 11 pm Sunday to Thursday, 12 noon to 12 pm Friday and Saturday.
One more thing: Milford & Makeney co-Webmaster Ashley Franklin has framed images of Milford and Duffield on the walls – all for sale!
