Sarah Stanton Longdon, who has lived in Milford for 30 years, has made a big impression at the Belper Arts Festival Trail, not least on webmaster Ashley!
Ashley, a keen photographer, went round the Arts Trail, and dropped in on Sarah’s exhibition at 76 Long Row. He was greatly impressed:
‘I had known a little about Sarah’s photos through her Facebook page and an image she took of a walker on The Chevin looking out at the sunrise, which was commended in a University of Derby exhibition. However, when I walked in to her own exhibition, I then saw the extent of her talent through so many impressive images, including more glorious shots of The Chevin and a stunning shot of Stephenson’s Sighting Tower made very atmospheric by a dark blue sky and some smoke from burning wood. She is clearly a very gifted photographer.’
Sarah was featured in the Derbyshire magazine last October and expressed her love for her home village:
‘I’m very lucky to live in a place that is so special, that I love and photograph almost daily – The Chevin in Milford. I have hundreds of photographs of its landscape, its ancient trees and its changing light, thinking about its ancient origins and the Romans who once passed along it.’
