Pupils at Milford Primary School have been involved in a fascinating art installation project Derwent Pulse, created by artists Charles Monkhouse. Described as Derbyshire’s longest ever artwork, this month of October has seen up to one thousand lights flowing the length of the River Derwent. As Charles terms it: ‘Resonating with the ancient pulse of the first ever factories, the lights weave together past, present and future histories of Derbyshire, its landscape and its people.’
Below is a gallery of photos from the evening when pupils at Milford Primary walked down to the river. Each pupil was attached to a light ball, controlled by the artist, which constantly glowed and change colour.
