‘Very busy but successful and rewarding’ is how Paula Fox describes her first year as Headteacher at Milford Primary.
Paula came to Milford in January 2015 from Saint Elizabeth’s Catholic Primary in Belper where she was Deputy Head for eight years.
‘I applied for the post because Milford Primary is a big part of the community and its ethos and values match my own’ says Paula.
As she continues: ‘My first year has been very busy but successful and rewarding. Our results have improved dramatically and we are waiting for Ofsted to confirm a ‘Good’ judgement. It has been lovely getting to know the children and parents and build on the good links with the community. Our building is steeped in history but is very much geared to the 21st century with interactive white boards in each class and a dedicated ICT suite. Our numbers are increasing, too, so we now have a well resourced EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) class with its own indoor and outdoor space. We can take upto 20 children in EYFS so our new starters settle quickly and make excellent progress with such small numbers. We then have a further 3 classes: Y 1/2, Y 3/4 and Y 5/6. However, because of our relatively small numbers, our children can participate and share experiences as a whole school community.’
‘I have really enjoyed my first year at Milford and look forward to working with the parents, children and dedicated staff to make our school even better!’
