Milford Social Club’s first Open Mic Night was a great success in terms of turnout – it just needs a few more musicians.
Webmaster Ashley Franklin writes: Organiser George, who has been involved in Open Mic nights at The Holly Bush, played his heart out to an enthusiastic crowd. Aside from a guitarist who jammed on a couple of numbers, the spotlight – or rather a quirky lampshade plus a mic stand festooned with fairy lights – was solely on George, who put his own stamp on an eclectic range of songs with a clear, controlled and imposing voice coupled with an accomplished acoustic guitar sound.
George has real presence but he doesn’t want to be the only presence – so if you’re a musician looking for an open mic and a warm welcome, do come down on a Thursday night. 8.30 start. Here’s a gallery of photos from the first night (click to view them larger)
