The Milford & Makeney Well Dressers are keen to recruit new members for this year’s May Day event.
As Adrian Dudley writes: The Milford and Makeney Well Dressers are a small and dedicated group who plan and co-ordinate the Well Dressings that are part of the May celebrations in the two villages.
We are in the process of planning for this year’s event on the 11th May and are very keen to recruit new members!
The only criteria for joining the group are enthusiasm and an interest in being involved in this popular village event which links Milford and Makeney in an historic art form unique to Derbyshire.
We have in previous years seen 4 or 5 Well Dressings created in the villages with the Playgroup, the School, Chapels and Makeney all playing their part.
If you would like to be involved – as much or as little time as you can spare – please come along. You also do not need to be artistic – there are plenty of things to do which are essential to the production of the Well Dressings which do not require artistic ability or any previous knowledge of Well Dressing.
Our next meeting is 18 March – 8pm at the Mill House pub
