Ways of Japan come to Makeney

Local business man Rafe Hock of Milford’s Nealies is developing the old Makeney Riverside Garden Centre into a martial arts centre and fitness suite. Within it there will be a gym, cafe and dojo (Japanese for “place of the way”) for students of martial arts. The dojo is called “Kawagishi Dojo” which – appropriately translated – means “Riverside Dojo”.

Rafe has already started teaching his Aikido club on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:00pm to 9:00pm along with local Milford’ite Chaz Spring who has recently started his karate club on Thursdays from 7:30pm to 8:30pm. More classes are starting at the end of October.
