Welcome to new Priest in Charge at Milford

nicky-fenton-001Milford & Makeney welcomes Nicky Fenton, its new Priest in Charge who is now running the benefice that includes St John’s Hazelwood, St Michael’s in Holbrook and Holy Trinity, Milford.

Nicky is married to Michael, who is a chartered accountant working for Xylem in Nottingham, and they have two children: Emily who is 16 and beginning Sixth Form; and Sophie, aged 13.

Nicky came to us following a four year curacy in St Ann’s, Nottingham after training for ministry at Cranmer Hall in Durham. Before that, she taught in primary education and lived in a village near Gainsborough where she was a reader within a benefice of four churches.

As Nicky says: ‘I am very excited to be coming to join this new benefice and am looking forward to the challenge of such a varied job description. I hope to be able to meet as many of you as possible at my licensing service and to have the opportunity to visit you all over the coming weeks so that we can begin to get to know each other and work out how God is calling us to work together in partnership.’

nicky-fenton-007‘When I invite myself round, please don’t be too shocked to discover  I don’t drink tea or coffee and don’t be offended if I bring a lemon drizzle cake with me as I love baking and find that sharing food with people is a good way to share stories, lives and build meaningful relationships.’

‘I’m confident that God is calling me here’ continues Nicky, ‘and that He has brought us together because he has great plans for us, our churches and communities; and I look forward to discerning with you what God is calling us to be and do, and how we can partner with Him, each other and our communities in bringing His kingdom near.  I also look forward to growing the church as we commit ourselves to Christ, each other and to being Christ’s presence for others. God bless with my love and prayers.’
