Milford Social Club – AKA The Sunshine Club – has been an important facility for the local area for many years.
The building at the bottom of Sunny Hill was converted from the old Beehive pub and opened in 1902 as the Milford Institute.
A Reading Room and Institute had previously been housed in the Mill, but George Herbert Strutt wanted a separate building where residents could meet ‘for recreation, amusement, and instruction.’
Today, the club offers a selection of cask and bottled ales (including Dancing Duck and Bass), premium lagers, fine wines, shorts, soft drinks, many other drinks and a selection of bar snacks.
There is also regular live entertainment. Look out for listings in the club, on the club’s own website, Facebook page or on this website to see what’s coming up.
The club also has its own Jukebox packed full of good songs plus a pool table, dart board and a full size snooker table upstairs.
The club also has free WIFI – the code is on the notice board.
Live sport (Sky and BT Sport) – The Sunshine Club is home to all live sport on the big screen – everything from Premier League football to the Six Nations. When Derby County are televised and playing away, there’s a terrific atmosphere.
The bar area has recently been improved and, most importantly, the club offers offer a warm welcome to everyone – families, walkers/dog walkers, bikers, real ale drinkers…
There is a Meat Raffle every Saturday night, which includes:- 1st a joint of meat | 2nd a joint of meat | 3rd a breakfast pack or BBQ pack.
Want to book the club for a function? There is a private function room available. Or you can use the main bar (Member shared).
You can organise your own catering, or the club is happy to do it for you. They cater for Birthdays, Weddings, Christenings, Corporate Events, Presentation Evenings and Funerals. With very cheap rates.
Although everyone is welcome, we do ask regulars to become members, simply because our drinks are so much cheaper than everywhere else.
On average, a pint of beer is £2.60 to £2.90, approx 50p cheaper than most other places.
Membership is £10 for the year. Non members are asked to make a £1 donation.
