Want to find out more about your ancestors but never seem to have the time to do it? if so, you may well be interested in speaking to Milford resident Fiona Boardman who has just launched her business FBP Family History Research.
Having spent over 30 years working for various government departments, mostly in London, Fiona has retired early and made a long-standing hobby a new phase of her life. ‘This represents an exciting new start for me,’ declares Fiona.
Fiona’s passion for family history was sparked by ‘the puzzle of a disappearing great-grandfather who seemingly never died.’ Subsequently, she has researched and recorded a huge and far-flung family tree with connections in three corners of the world. Fiona has particular local knowledge of places and record sources in England, especially the counties of Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire… and Derbyshire.
The aim of Fiona’s business is to research and collate your own family histories on your behalf. As she points out: ‘It could be that you’ve got some information and want to conduct your own research, but don’t know where to start. I can advise you on use of the main information sources and provide a mentoring and support service for when you get stuck.
‘It could be that you’ve already done online research and traced your ancestors but now need to check local parish records and archives. I can travel anywhere in England, Scotland or Wales to take your research further.’
