Soi Kitchens has been declared the second best restaurant in the UK for South Asian food after a cook-off in Parliament.
They narrowly missed out on first place in the 14th Tiffin Cup, which is presented by celebrity chef Ainsley Harriott.
It did however come high enough to rank as the best South Asian restaurant in the East Midlands.
Head chef Sidharth Bakshi impressed the judges, including Ainsley Harriot and Commons Speaker John Bercow, with a Fish Kolivada – pan fried Sea Bass served with curried mashed potato and topped with a tomato and mango coulis with a side of dosa rolls.
General manager of Soi Kitchens, Ben Corner, said: ‘What makes Soi Kitchens’ success in the competition even more impressive is that the restaurant has only been open since January but it has already been busy building a strong reputation.’
Pauline Latham, MP for Mid Derbyshire, said that she was ‘extremely proud’ of the restaurant’s award and was eager to announce it in Parliament as a success story for her constituency.
