Milford Apple Day took place on 12th October on the Greenspace from 2-4pm, at exactly the same time as a miraculous sunny spell between the rain. There was a great turnout with many children making the most of the Greenspace facilities and apple crafting activities and apple pies and apple cakes for everyone.
The array of lovely refreshments that were available is shown in the video below. £65 was raised by generous donations for the refreshments.
Belper Apple Day always takes place a day after the Milford one (see poster below) so this year was on Sunday 13th October.
The inspiration for both days came from Chris Ring. It was he who set up the Belper event four years ago, encouraged us in Milford to have one too, and led the Belper organising committee every year. Following the tragic death of Chris in Milford in June, the Belper event has been renamed The Chris Ring Apple Day in his honour.
The Chris Ring Apple Day was even better attended than usual and a great success. There was a strong Milford presence at the event with the stalls undertaking apple pressing, apple drying and the cakes, pies & tarts for refreshments all peopled and supplied by Milford residents.
