Despite the fact that the traditional May Day parade through the village has been cancelled due to the coronavirus restrictions, the Milford Craft Group have continued their tradition of “yarn bombing” the village on May Day. This time they have put up bunting on The Triangle, with the agreement of Belper Town Council.
It’s worth going down for a look – each pennant has been individually decorated. Another tradition that has continued – albeit in online form – is the dancing by local dance troupe Maids of the Mill. They were spotted practicing their steps (in a socially distanced manner, of course) on the riverside in Hopping Mill Meadow a fortnight ago and a video of this years full dance can be seen here. Finally, since the May Day School Fair is not taking place this year, Blooming Milford will hold its traditional plant sale in David Moreton’s garden instead, over the 8-9th May weekend. For more details and a plant brochure e-mail David here.
